Flood-hit homes to get sandbags

Sandbags are being delivered to homes in Gloucester which flooded earlier in the week, with more rain forecast for this weekend.

The city council said it would be on standby to supply more to any other houses which are thought to be at risk.

Chief executive Julian Wain said the authority had a detailed emergency flood plan in place.

"We will also support the emergency services and respond to any requests for help from them," he said.

"We have developed a clear course of action aimed at highlighting areas known to be most at risk.

"But homeowners should be aware that they have a responsibility to take action themselves to protect their homes."
