A driver died when his car careered off the road and smashed into a tree, bursting into flames.

The crash happened on the B4058 at Rushmire Hill, near Wotton-under-Edge, Gloucestershire, on Monday morning.

A blue Vauxhall Astra left the road near Cotswold Edge Golf Club, collided with a tree and caught fire.

The driver, who has not been named, was pronounced dead at the scene. The B4058 and the nearby Old London Road were closed for more than four hours.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Gloucestershire Police.
