Tea bag firm is bought for £37.5m
A mill in Lydney which produces teabags and coffee filter papers has been bought by an American firm for £37.5m.

JR Crompton Limited which has a turnover of around £70m, and bases in Gloucestershire, Devon and Manchester called in administrators last month.

The mill, in the Forest of Dean, employs about 240 people.

"This acquisition represents an exceptional opportunity," said George H Glatfelter II, chairman of new owners Glatfelter.

"It supports our vision of becoming the global supplier of choice in specialty papers and engineered products," said Mr Glatfelter.

"The mill initially will operate as a standalone business and, together with our European mills, will form a new Composite Fibers business unit," he added

The Lydney mill produces a wide range of products, including tea and coffee filter papers, clean room wipes, and lens tissues.
