Schools in the Cheltenham and Tewkesbury area are being warned to be extra vigilant after IT equipment was taken from a number of sites.
The police warning follows a break-in at a school in Tredington and a number of burglar alarm activations.
A force spokesman urged schools to review their security arrangements - particularly with half-term coming up.
"We believe schools are being targeted because of amount of high-value items which are attractive to thieves."
Police are stepping up patrols in the area and would ask anyone who has any information to contact them.
