Speeding traffic caught on camera
New speed cameras are to be placed outside three schools in Gloucestershire.

The locations have been judged community concern sites and will have fully operational cameras monitoring traffic from Tuesday.

The sites were agreed after members of the public expressed concerns about the speed of passing traffic.

They have been placed near Staunton and Corse Primary, Twigworth and Katherine Lady Berkeley schools.

'Community concern'

Although none of the sites meet the government's criteria to become core enforcement locations, the Gloucestershire Safety Camera Partnership will enforce the sites under its community concern allowance.

Partnership spokesperson, Raines Walker said: "Each year we receive around 100 requests for cameras from communities who are alarmed by the speed of traffic.

"By establishing community concern sites we are able to take pre-emptive action to allay fears and prevent collisions."

A speed camera is also to be placed on the A430 Hempstead bypass.
