Friends of a Gloucester teenager who was killed when he was hit by two cars that failed to stop have appealed for the drivers to come forward.

Ryan Knight, 17, is believed to have stumbled into the road at Norbury Avenue, Matson, on Saturday night.

Witness Jamie Chandler said the two cars came in opposite directions, hit his friend in close succession and carried on driving.

"I just hope whoever has done it comes forward," Jamie said.

Friends left flowers and tributes at the scene of the accident.

Dangerous road

Some local residents claim it is a dangerous road where speeding is common.

One told BBC News: "They can do 70 or 80 miles an hour. The speed bumps are no good, they might as well not be there."

The road was closed for approximately five hours while an investigation took place.

The cars are described as white or silver.

Detective Chief Inspector Pete Davis, who is leading the investigation, said: "This is a tragic incident, involving the untimely death of a young man whose loved ones are naturally devastated."
