Two charged over lecturer's death

Two men have been charged with murder and grievous bodily harm following the death of a Stroud college employee.

Meditation tutor Lawrence Hart, 53, was assaulted in the grounds of Hawkwood College last Thursday.

Darren Botchett, 33, of Matson Avenue, Gloucester, and Ian Richards, 29, of Jersey Road, Gloucester, appeared before magistrates on Wednesday.

The men have been remanded in custody to appear before Bristol Crown Court on 30 August.

They are also accused of wounding college caretaker John Jordan in Thursday's attack.
