Repair man dies in dive accident

A diver, who became trapped underwater while carrying out maintenance work on a lock, has died.

The accident happened at the Upper Lode Lock at Forthampton, near Tewkesbury, on Friday morning.

Police spokesman Inspector Charles Thomas, said: "The man, from Hampshire, who was airlifted to Cheltenham General Hospital sadly died overnight.

"Police and Health and Safety Executive inquiries continue. His next of kin and the coroner have been informed."
