Man's body found tied up in river
The River Severn
The coroner has been informed
The body of a man has been found tied up and dumped in the River Severn in Gloucestershire.

The man, who was white and in his 30s, was spotted in the water near the Anchor Inn at Epney on Saturday.

Police have confirmed that the man had been bound by the hands and feet before being put into the river, and that his death is being treated as suspicious.

Officers are working to establish the man's identity, and have asked anyone with information to contact them.

Post mortem

Officers say they originally received reports of a body in the river at Ashleworth just before 0200 BST on 9 April, which was not found despite a search.

The body found at Epney is believed to be the same person, say police.

A description of the man has been released.

He is white, about 5ft 9ins and believed to have been between 18 and 35 years old.

He was wearing blue jeans and a dark hooded anorak.

Gloucestershire Police are asking neighbouring forces if the description matches that of any missing people.

The coroner has been informed, and a post mortem examination will be carried out to establish how the man died.
