Police find stolen manhole covers
Drain with no drain cover
Police recovered some of the covers in Newport, South Wales
Police investigating 40 stolen manhole covers in Gloucester have recovered 12 at a smelting plant in Newport.

Officers say the covers were probably bought within the last few days from a scrap metal dealer in Lydney.

The cast iron covers, thought to be worth about 3,000, were taken from streets across the city late on Wednesday 10 March.

Police believe they were stolen for scrap, as the value of heavy scrap metal has rocketed recently.

Nobody has been arrested over the find.
