Search for backpacker halted
The search for a backpacker from Gloucestershire, missing in New Zealand, has been temporarily called off because of the weather.

Hannah Timings, 28, from Cheltenham, and helicopter pilot Campbell Montgomerie lost contact with air traffic controllers on Saturday.

It is feared their helicopter crashed in poor weather.

Five rescue helicopters had been scouring a mountainous area of New Zealand's South Island

Ms Timings' family say they are still hopeful she will be found safe.

Her uncle, Giles Timings, from Cheltenham, said the family was still hopeful.

"The search was hampered for two days. They couldn't get in because of the fog."

Ms Timings, who worked as a furniture buyer in London between her travels, had been visiting friends in New Zealand since October.

She was not due to return to the UK until March.
