Fatal fire teen released on bail
A teenager arrested in connection with a fire in which an elderly woman died has been released on bail.

The woman, who has not been named by police, was found dead in the burned-out house in Forge Lane, Upleadon, near Newent, Gloucestershire, on Wednesday morning.

A spokeswoman for Gloucestershire Police said: "A 17-year-old man from the Newent area who was arrested in connection with the fire at an address in Upleadon, has been released on police bail pending further inquiries."

The cause of the fire has yet to be established, but police are treating it as "doubtful".

Such was the ferocity of the fire at Alford Farm that the roof and walls of the building collapsed despite firefighters' efforts to extinguish the flames.
