Prince helps canal appeal
Prince Charles
Charles is patron of a body involved in the restoration
The Prince of Wales has hosted a reception to help raise money for the restoration of the Cotswold Canals.

Prince Charles is patron of The Waterways Trust, which is launching an 82m appeal to pay for the project.

When they are restored, the canals will form a continuous waterway between the River Severn and the Thames.

The work is expected to take at least five years.

Recently, the canals were examined by archaeologists to conduct the first ever heritage survey of all 36 miles of the abandoned line.
