Man in 'stolen' car crash in Essex identified

A driver who died when a car which police believe was stolen crashed in Essex has been identified as a 36-year-old from Dagenham.

Paul Slater, of Rowdowns Road, was thrown from a Ford Fiesta when it crashed with a BMW on the A1112 Romford Road in Chigwell on Thursday night.

He sustained serious head injuries and died in hospital shortly afterwards.

The BMW driver, a 21-year-old man from Loughton, was taken to hospital with a serious spinal injury, police said.

Anyone with information about the crash is asked to contact police.

The incident happened at the junction with Woolhampton Way at about 2200 BST.
