More than £60m has been awarded to upgrade a road junction in Essex which the county council said would help reduce congestion. The Department for Transport funding will see work carried out at Sadlers Farm Junction. Essex County Council said the development would include a bypass between the A13 and A130. It would also see the widening of the A13 to four lanes in each direction as far as the Pitsea flyover. Councillor Norman Hume said: "We have reached another stage of this vital project and the provision of these central government funds means we are now able to proceed with getting this vital link built. "I know the misery which the current junction causes thousands of motorists. It is holding back our economic potential and I now hope we are able to deliver a new, less congested Sadlers Farm to Essex residents." Construction is due to begin in May/June 2010 and the scheme is forecast to be completed in March 2012.
