Woman questioned over pram crash

A 75-year-old woman has been questioned after a six-month-old boy in a pram was hit on a pedestrian crossing in Essex.

The baby was airlifted to hospital after the incident involving a Volkswagen Polo in Ongar Road, Brentwood on Friday.

Essex Police said the baby is in a critical condition at Great Ormond Street Hospital in central London.

The woman driver has been interviewed and will be re-interviewed at a later date, police said.

The pram was being pushed by the baby's mother, who was unhurt.

Both the baby's parents, who are from Brentwood, are at the hospital.
