Fire tears through terraced row

A fire has broken out in the roof of a row of terraced houses in Essex.

Eight fire engines were called to the scene in Collingwood Walk, Basildon, on Wednesday evening.

Crews were called to attend from across the county and firefighters needed breathing apparatus as they tackled the flames.

It is not known if anyone has been injured in the fire, or how much damage has been caused. An investigation into the blaze will be started.
