Officers investigating the death of a woman in an arson attack four years ago want to find the owners of three vehicles seen in the area.

Andrea Daly, 40, was trapped after a petrol bomb was put through her letterbox in Rochford Road, Southend in Essex, on 10 November 2005.

Her two sons, then aged 17 and 20, escaped by jumping from a window.

Three cars were seen in the vicinity of Rochford Road, as well as three men with a petrol can.

Engine running

Witnesses have reported seeing a Suzuki Vitara and three men with a petrol can on Eastwoodberry Crescent.

Two other cars were seen in the area in the hours before the attack - a black four-wheel drive BMW and a white Ford Fiesta with its engine running.

Det Sup Liam Osborne said: "This case may be four years old but we have not stopped in our quest to identify those people who set fire to Andrea's house.

"We need people to cast their minds back to the time of the arson attack, which was at 0300 GMT on that Thursday in 2005, and see if they can recall seeing these vehicles."

Mrs Daly was trapped at the front of the house and died from the effects of breathing in smoke.
