Girl dies in hospital after crash

A three-year-old girl has died in hospital following a crash in Essex in which her mother was killed.

Michelle Williams, 38, from Tyn-y-Gongl in Anglesey, Wales, hit the back of a lorry which was parked in a lay-by on the A127 at East Horndon on 1 July.

Ruby Williams was seriously injured in the crash and was taken to Great Ormond Street Hospital in London where she died on Thursday.

The lorry driver, who was asleep in his cab, was uninjured.

Mrs Williams and her daughter had been visiting relatives in Wickford and had been making their way back to Wales.

Anyone who witnessed the crash is asked to contact police.
