Man held after fatal crash bailed

A 19-year-old man arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving after a cyclist was killed in an accident in Essex has been bailed.

A Vauxhall Astra car and a bicycle were in collision in Lifstan Way, Southend, in the early hours of Saturday morning.

The 43-year-old cyclist, from Southend, was pronounced dead at the scene.

A man from Southend was arrested, but has now been released on police bail until 18 October. Any witnesses to the crash are asked to call Essex Police.
