Woman killed in car crash named

A woman who died in a car crash in Essex has been named by police.

Lynne Moate, 81, of Bosberry Road, Malvern in Worcestershire, was a rear seat passenger in a Ford Escort, which was in collision with a Nissan Micra.

The crash happened in Steeple Road between Latchingdon and Mayland on Thursday. The occupants of the Micra were not seriously injured.

A 45-year-old man from Worcestershire has been arrested and bailed of causing death by careless driving.

The occupants of the Escort were a family from Worcestershire on holiday in the area, a police spokeswoman said.

The occupants of the Micra, a man and woman in their 60s from Stratford in east London, suffered minor injuries in the crash.

A woman in her 40s and a teenage girl, who were in the Escort, were also taken to hospital after suffering minor injuries.

The spokeswoman appealed for witnesses to the crash to come forward.

In particular she asked motorists who were caught up in slow moving traffic in the area before the crash to contact officers.
