The occupants of the Escort were a family from Worcestershire on holiday in the area, a police spokeswoman said. A woman in her 40s and a teenage girl, who were in the Escort, were also taken to hospital after suffering minor injuries. The spokeswoman appealed for witnesses to the crash to come forward. In particular she asked motorists who were caught up in slow moving traffic in the area before the crash to contact officers.
