Chest pains yachtsman airlifted

The man was flown to Southend Airport where an ambulance took him to hospital

A 20-year-old man has been airlifted from a yacht after being taken ill off the Essex coast.

Coastguards launched the rescue after they were alerted by radio that the man was suffering from severe chest pains.

He was winched aboard a RAF Search and Rescue helicopter scrambled from the Wattisham Airfield in Suffolk.

He was flown to Southend Airport where he was met by an ambulance and taken to hospital for treatment but medical staff have not revealed his condition.
