Ryanair seeks Stansted pay-out

The airline Ryanair has confirmed it is seeking compensation from BAA - the owner of Stansted Airport.

Green campaigners broke through the airport's perimeter fence and reached the runway last month resulting in the cancellation of 57 Ryanair flights.

Lawyers prosecuting the demonstrators said the disruption had cost the airline £2.24m.

In a statement BAA said: "We are aware of Ryanair's claim and it's currently being dealt with by our legal team."
