Driver charged after fatal crash

A lorry driver has been charged with failing to stop and failing to report an accident after a collision in Essex in which a motorcyclist was killed.

Abilio Silva, 38, from Vilanova, Portugal, will appear before Basildon Magistrates Court on Thursday. He is currently remanded in custody.

Police said the lorry driver was arrested in the Manchester area.

A 37-year-old man from Wickford, Essex, died in Tuesday's collision, which happened on the A127 at Basildon.
