Five fire engines and 25 crew members were still dealing with a fire at a recycling centre in Essex 30 hours after it broke out.

Wood chippings covering more than two acres of land caught fire on the Birchwood Industrial Estate, Hoe Lane, in Nazeing, early on Monday morning.

Essex Fire and Rescue Service said: "The fire is now under control but it is still burning."

The cause of the fire is not known but an investigation will start later.

At the height of the blaze at least 18 fire engines were tackling the flames.
