Woman sought after £50,000 theft

A photograph has been released of a housekeeper police want to talk to after £50,000 of cash and jewellery was stolen from the home where she worked.

Gaytri Mondal, 43, worked at a house in Chigwell, Essex, for three years before disappearing on 9 September.

At the same time £10,000 in cash and various items of jewellery disappeared from the home.

Police said Ms Gaytri has east London connections and was last known to be living in Plaistow.

Investigating officer Matt Holman, said: "We have been searching for her in Essex and London, but have so far been unable to find her.

"As a result, we are asking for the help of the public who will hopefully provide us with information on her whereabouts."

Ms Mondal is described as Asian, approximately 5ft tall, has "a rounded figure" and speaks only limited English, police said.

Anyone with information of her whereabouts is asked to contact Essex Police.
