The retrieved notes are being sent the to the Bank of England - at their suggestion

A guide dog has eaten more than £250 in notes over Christmas after developing a taste for money.

Lewis the Labrador, who belongs to Claire Webb, of Frinton, Essex, ate the £5, £10 and £20 notes, which had been left on the kitchen table.

The money, collected for Rotary Club charities, had been left by Claire's husband Gordon.

The Bank of England has told the Webbs to send in evidence of the remaining cash for reimbursement.

Lewis himself was in the doghouse over Christmas but the Webbs said he had now been forgiven.
