Primary school destroyed by fire

A huge fire has destroyed a primary school in Hertfordshire.

About 10 fire crews were called to the blaze at Hillmead Primary School in Woburn Avenue, Bishop's Stortford, on Friday afternoon.

Firefighters found the building, which had been evacuated, well alight and part of the roof collapsed.

Hertfordshire Fire Service said the fire, which had destroyed 90% of the building, was brought under control within about three hours.

An investigation into the cause of the fire has begun. No-one was injured in the fire.
