Detective denies inspector attack

A police inspector has accused the detective sergeant she lived with of assaulting her after she had an affair with a "high-ranking" officer.

Insp Amanda Lowe told Basildon Crown Court Det Sgt Adrian Ramdat warned her: "If you tell anyone I will kill you."

Det Sgt Ramdat, 40, a father-of-three, denies twice assaulting Ms Lowe, who is in her 30s, during the summer of 2007.

Ms Lowe and Mr Ramdat, lived in Chafford Hundred, Essex, at the time of the alleged attack, jurors heard.

Ms Lowe, Mr Ramdat and the "high-ranking" officer - referred to only as "Steve" - all worked for the City of London Police, the court was told.

'Possessive and jealous'

Ms Lowe told jurors she met Mr Ramdat on a training course in April 2007 and began a relationship with him immediately.

But she said he was "possessive" and jealous because she had previously had an affair with a married senior officer who was Mr Ramdat's "ultimate line manager".

Ms Lowe said Mr Ramdat twice attacked her at her home. On the second occasion she said she suffered a broken ankle after he forced his way into her bedroom.

"He was just bashing my head around and shouting and bashing it on the fitted wardrobes and on to the floor," she said.

"He was just screaming that he hated me."

She added: "He held my chin in his hands and he said 'If you tell anyone I will come back and kill you'."

Ms Lowe said she thought she was going to die.

The case continues.
