There is still no sign of the father of four from Leigh-on-Sea

Police now believe a missing skipper from Essex was lost at sea, after a search of his recovered trawler failed to find his body.

On Wednesday, Colin Dolby's sunken vessel Louisa was raised and taken to a dry dock in Kent.

The 47-year-old went missing in severe weather off Shoeburyness on Monday afternoon after phoning his father he was returning to port.

Police said: "The missing skipper is now considered to be lost at sea."

A spokeswoman added that the investigation was now in the hands of the Marine Accident Investigation Branch.

The 40ft (12m) steel-hulled fishing boat failed to return to its berth at Leigh-on-Sea and the alarm was raised.

Lifeboats and an RAF search helicopter from Wattisham Airfield were involved in the search for Mr Dolby.
