Four held over attempted murder

Four men have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a man was hit by a car in Essex.

A 21-year-old man from London was treated in hospital for a broken arm and leg after he was hit by the car at the Festival Leisure Park in Basildon.

This followed an altercation in Liquid Bar early on Sunday morning.

Two men aged 23 and 24 from Ilford, and two 20-year-olds from Romford and Reading are being questioned by Essex Police.

A police spokeswoman said that the victim was 6ft 5in (1.93m) tall and would have stood out from the crowds of Halloween revellers in the leisure park at that time of the morning.

His injuries were not thought to be life-threatening but he was taken to Basildon University Hospital for treatment.

Police are appealing for witnesses who saw the car mount the pavement or the earlier altercation.
