Man killed in traffic collision

An 89-year-old man has died after his car was involved in a collision with a van in Essex.

The crash happened on Thorpe Esplanade, Southend, on Tuesday, when a green Nissan Micra was involved in a collision with a Ford Transit tipper.

The driver of the Nissan, from Leigh, Essex, was taken by ambulance to Southend Hospital where he died.

Anyone with information about the accident or any witnesses are asked to call Essex Police.
