Police investigating the death of a woman whose body was found in an Essex river have said they are not treating the death as suspicious.

The discovery was made close to the Sandford Mill Lock in the River Chelmer, Chelmsford.

The woman is believed to be aged in her 50s, an Essex Police spokesman said.

The Police Marine Unit carried out an investigation in the area and a post-mortem examination is to be carried out.
