Man in court on stabbing charge

A 47-year-old man has been charged with grievous bodily harm and possession of an offensive weapon following a stabbing in Essex.

The alleged incident happened early on Sunday morning in Burnham-on-Sea. The victim, a 44-year-old man, suffered a stab wound to his abdomen.

He was taken to Broomfield Hospital in Chelmsford, but his injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

Shane Saunders, from Burnham, will appear before Chelmsford magistrates.
