Man seriously injured in accident

A man was seriously injured when the car he was travelling in hit a central reservation barrier.

The man, 29, from Colchester, Essex, was a passenger in a Renault Clio which was involved in the crash on the A12 near the Ardleigh turn-off at 0150 BST.

He was taken to the Royal London Hospital with head injuries where he was described as being in a serious but stable condition.

The woman driver, 24, of Ipswich, Suffolk, suffered a broken arm.

Police have appealed for any witnesses to the accident to contact them.
