Two arrested over car crime spree

Two men have been arrested over one of a spate of burglaries in Essex over the weekend, which saw electrical equipment and high value cars taken.

The arrested men, aged 18 and 21 and from Newham, are being questioned on suspicion of burglary at Brentwood.

Residents who reported break-ins also said their car keys had been taken and their vehicles stolen or tampered with.

The burglaries, which began on Sunday morning in Chigwell, Buckhurst Hill, Epping, Harlow, Ongar and Loughton.

The men were arrested after a Saab car, which had been stolen from a house in Chigwell, crashed in Romford.
