Man charged with raping teenager

An 18-year-old man is due to appear in court charged with rape following an incident in which a teenage girl was attacked in a subway.

The 17-year-old girl was assaulted in the St Botolph's subway in Colchester on Tuesday night.

Jean Claude Ruguro, from Kesteven Close, Ilford, in London, has been charged with rape and attempted rape.

An Essex Police spokeswoman said Mr Ruguro was due to appear before magistrates in Chelmsford.
