Man dies after rescue from blaze

A man has been killed in a fire at his Essex home.

Firefighters pulled the man from the burning house in Abels Road, Halstead, on Thursday.

The ambulance service treated him at the scene but he later died from his injuries. Another man was treated for the effects of breathing in smoke.

A joint investigation into the incident will be carried out by Essex County Fire and Rescue and officers from Essex Police.

The fire was quickly extinguished but crews remained at the scene until the early hours of the morning.
