Police and fire investigators are probing the cause of a fire at a snooker hall and club in Essex in the early hours of the morning.

Seven crews wore breathing apparatus to tackle the blaze at Mr Pool's at The Hythe in Colchester.

An aerial ladder platform was also used to gain access to the three storey building and to stop the fire spreading to neighbouring properties.

Essex Fire Service crews remain at the scene damping down.

Police have urged motorists to avoid the area as Hythe Hill is likely to remain closed for some time.
