Boy is remanded over fatal crash

A 16-year-old boy has been remanded in custody in connection with a crash on the M11 in which a teenager died.

The body of another 16-year-old boy was found in a stolen car which slid down an embankment after leaving the road near Harlow, Essex, on Saturday night.

The accused, who cannot be named, admitted aggravated vehicle taking resulting in a death, but denied burglary, relating to the stolen car.

He was ordered to reappear at Basildon youth court on 3 June for trial.

Injured boy

The boy, from Shepherds Bush, west London, remains on police bail until early June on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

A 17-year-old boy, who was found injured in undergrowth close to the crash scene and arrested in connection with the collision, has been released on police bail.

He is also from Shepherds Bush and is due to answer bail at an Essex police station on 21 April.

The car, a Vauxhall Signum, was stolen from Twickenham, south-west London, on 4 April.

A post mortem examination into the death of the victim is due to be held.
