A 14-year-old girl has died after she was struck by a car in Essex.
A Volkswagen Golf was travelling along Layer Road, Colchester, when it hit the girl, a pedestrian, near the Lordswood Road junction on Friday afternoon.
The girl was treated at the scene by paramedics before being taken to Colchester Hospital were she died.
The Volkswagen's driver was arrested on suspicion of causing dangerous driving while under the influence of drink or drugs and bailed until 23 May.
Essex Police have urged anyone who saw the crash to contact them.
