Appeal as guide dog goes missing
Ron Whitt and Fable
Fable, a German Shepherd, went missing in Brentwood
A guide dog has gone missing in an Essex town after being startled and an appeal has been made to residents to help find the black German Shepherd.

Ron Whitt, who is blind, lost Fable after she bolted while being walked by a friend in Brentwood on Thursday.

Sightings suggest two-year-old Fable has been circling the Thorndon, Childerditch and Hartswood areas.

Mr Whitt said he is helpless without Fable and has been scouring the area since she went missing.

He has been camping out and cooking barbeques in an attempt to lure her out of the woodland.

'A constant companion'

Mr Whitt believes he had been within inches of Fable on Saturday, but a passing motorist sounded their car horn and scared her away.

He said: "We are all so close and have seen her on a number of occasions, but she is so scared and alone she is running away from people.

"I need as many good people as possible from this town to come on down to the Thorndon Park area and help me look for Fable.

"As well as being my constant companion, and the dog that gets me through the day, she is also like a best friend to me and we need to catch her before she is harmed."
