The Liberal Democrats have lost their hold on Uttlesford District Council to the Conservatives after just one term in control of the Essex council.

The Conservatives were the only party to gain any seats with all of the council's 44 being contested.

The Lib Dems lost 12 of their 27 to the Conservatives, with independent parties losing two seats.

The new council will see the Conservatives with 26 seats, Lib Dems 15 and independent parties three.
