Airport completes £2m extension
Stansted Airport
Record numbers of passengers are expected at Stansted Airport
Stansted Airport has completed a £2m security search area extension as it prepares for more than one million passengers over the Easter break.

The extension provides space for additional archway metal detectors and creates more security lanes and entry points to the search area.

More than 200 extra security officers have also been recruited as the Essex airport prepares for record numbers.

Each person can take only one small piece of hand luggage through security.

Passengers were also reminded they can only carry liquids in containers that are under 100ml and placed in a clear plastic bag.

Mark Murphy, Stansted's customer services director, said: "We have worked extremely hard to ensure our passengers experience a trouble free journey through the terminal.

"As with any busy international airport we will undoubtedly have queues at peak times, but if passengers follow some simple rules then queuing times will be kept to a minimum."
