Briton admits Cyprus crash death
Christos Papiris
Christos Papiris died in the collision
An Essex man has pleaded guilty to manslaughter over the death of a teenager in Cyprus.

Christos Papiris, 17, died when his moped was involved in a crash with a car on a road between Ayia Napa and Protaras early on 18 August.

Julian Harrington, 39, of Witham had initially pleaded not guilty but changed his plea during the hearing.

Co-defendants Michael Binnington, 21, and Luke Atkinson, 22, also from Essex, pleaded not guilty to the same charges.

Their trial is due to continue on Tuesday.

According to prosecutors, the moped was "repeatedly struck" by a rented Opel driven by Mr Harrington.

Marios Demetriou, 18, who was Christos Papiris pillion passenger, was seriously injured.

Police said it was a revenge attack following a fight outside a Protaras disco in which a friend of the accused was beaten up.
