Lorry driver remanded over deaths
A Polish lorry driver has been remanded in custody charged with causing death by dangerous driving after a crash in which two people died in Essex.

A man, 26, and his girlfriend, 25, died when their car was hit on the hard shoulder of the M11 on Thursday.

The car, thought to have broken down, burst into flames when it was struck.

Stanislaw Baran, 50, of Lublin, in Poland, appeared in court on Saturday and was remanded to appear at Harlow Magistrates' Court on 4 July.

He is also charged with making a false entry on a tacograph, exceeding the maximum daily driving hours and failing to take the minimum daily rest in a 24-hour period.

The victims have not been formally identified and Essex Police said this could take some time.
