A rare Scottish-built car, one from a family's entire vehicle collection, has been auctioned for more than £130,000.
The 1903 Arrol-Johnston vehicle went for £134,000 - far more than the estimate of £50,000 to £80,000.
A total of 317 cars, some from Kent's Ramsgate Motor Museum, are being sold in the two-day sale in Rayleigh, Essex.
"The Arrol-Johnston was the top lot, they are excellent cars and still in a very sturdy condition," said Matthew Paton of Christie's auction house.
"Even so, this sold for far in excess of the price we had expected."
An early model 1908 Rover car was also among the star lots, selling for £14,100.
The custard yellow two-seater 89hp model had been listed at a reserve of between £5,000 and £7,000.
The sale continues on Friday and includes cars collected by the Sharpes at their family-run garage since the 1950s.
