10-year-old is impaled on fence

A young boy is being treated in hospital for serious internal injuries after becoming impaled on a fence.

The accident happened on Thursday afternoon in at Audley End House in Audley End, Essex, near the entrance to the nearby miniature railway.

The 10-year-old from Bishop's Stortford, Herts, was taken to hospital with a puncture wound to his stomach.

It is thought the boy had been trying to climb over the fence when the accident happened.
