MPs question rail TV screen plans
Rail bosses are to be questioned at the House of Commons over controversial plans to install televisions on trains.

MPs from Essex, whose constituencies cover the c2c rail route, will raise concerns over the plans on Thursday.

The new screens will provide rail users with news bulletins, advertisements and travel information on their journey.

Some commuters who have expressed outrage at the decision say the TV's will be too noisy and are calling for "quiet zones" to escape the sound.

Members of the Thurrock Rail Users' Group will also be at the meeting.

Prior to the protest, rail user Steven Willingale said: "We would like to see a coach signposted so that people can have quiet away from mobile phones and these televisions.

"At present, there are quiet zones with just a few seats at the end of one carriage."

The MPs also plan to discuss measures c2c have taken to reduce overcrowding and train timetables.
