Three Vietnamese men wearing Scream masks bound two women with parcel tape before raping them, Chelmsford Crown Court heard on Thursday.
Van Dong Vu, 21, and Hoang Le, 22, deny a charge of raping the woman at a flat in Saffron Walden, Essex.
Mr Vu also faces a charge of aggravated burglary, which he also denies.
The court was told another man, Hung Nguyen, 24, has admitted a charge of aggravated burglary and has also admitted raping one of the women.
The court heard that Mr Le is a student from Hackney, London and Mr Vu is of no fixed address.
John Caudle, prosecuting, said that three men wearing the masks which resemble the painting by Edvard Munch, forced their way into the flat the women shared in Saffron Walden, Essex, on 27 February last year.
He said the men bound the women's hands and ankles with brown parcel tape before robbing and raping them.
Mr Caudle said the men also put parcel tape over the women's mouths and left with more than £1,000 in cash.
They also took a credit card belonging to one of the women, both women's mobile phones and a landline telephone, to prevent them from contacting the police, he said.
The court heard that Mr Le used the stolen credit card to withdraw cash from an ATM near his home in Hackney. He has admitted charges of theft.
Mr Caudle said: "The prosecution say the three men involved were these two defendants and another man, Hung Nguyen, who has pleaded guilty to aggravated burglary and rape."
The case continues.
